My big girl!

Ever since Daphne started kindergarten this year, she has been begging to get her ears pierced. I am kind of anti-pierce little kid’s ears, but telling her “They poke a needle through your ear!” wasn’t dissuading her anymore.  She kept saying “It only hurts for a second, right?” “Yep, but you have to sit really still.” “Okay, let’s go right now!” “Are you sure?” “YES!” I told her to sleep on it and the next day as soon as school was over she asked “Are we going to get my ears pierced now?!” “Okay, fine.” LOL So we went. She started off super excited then got a little nervous when they put the little things up to her ears. She yelled “Ow!” and jumped a little bit when they clicked and then shot both of the girls and me dirty looks. LOL When we left she said “I HATE earrings!” but as soon as we got a fruit smoothie and back to the car, she was excited. The back of one earring fell off in her sleep so that was big drama the next morning but I found it in her bed and put it back on (she thought it was going to hurt like piercing again) and then she was excited to go to school and show her friends. The light in there wasn’t great but here are a few pics I took of the occasion. ;)

We are all moved | summer + my kids

We are all moved and internet hooked up and all of that good stuff! All caught up on emails even, woot woot!  It’s a HOT one here this weekend, here are a few of my kiddos playing outside tonight. They are getting so big. As of Thursday I will have a 4th grader and a kindergartner! Kindergarten is all day here and this will be the first time in nine years that I don’t have a kiddo here with me during the weekday, it’s going to be weird. Maybe I will be caught up on work for once……OR mimosa breakfast time (ha, kidding!)

I love these popsicle molds. $3.99 from Fresh and Easy. I think I need to make some Ciroc Coconut Vodka + pineapple juice ones for mama. ;)

This was a fun session, you guys are awesome! I haven’t been much outside of hotel rooms lately so it was fun to go outdoors and do a couple session with this great (and adorable!) couple! Aren’t they cute? Ahh, love!

P.S.  I am moving officially tonight! Have a great weekend everyone!

Goodbye to our boxer boy, Zeke.

We got Zeke in December 2001 when he was 5 weeks old. We had been trying to have a baby for awhile and couldn’t so we said “Let’s just get a puppy.” We had just bought our first house and decided to go for it.  I had been circling boxer “ads” in the Pennysaver and leaving them open on the kitchen counter as a hint to my husband. LOL One day he came home with a a puppy. He was tiny.  The runt and also the cheapest one.  When they said “clearance puppy” in Marley and Me, we all looked at each other like “hey, we have one of those!” He instantly was like our kid, slept in our bed, sat next to us on the couch, and went in the car to “grandma’s house.”

Two months after we got him, I turn up pregnant.  I remember housetraining a puppy with chronic morning (all day!) sickness was not fun. But he was always an awesome dog, even when the baby came (and even when he chewed a container of greasy Lansinoh breast cream all over our brand new carpet!)  He was never weird with Jevin (our son) at all.  He instantly took backseat a little bit and was still happy. Even when Daphne came and he got booted from our bed to a dog bed on the floor next to the bed.

He would have made 10 years old in October.  About a year ago he started limping his back foot.  Turns out he had degenerative myelopathy, a spine disorder that eventually causes paralysis in the hind legs. It got worse and worse, he had to be carried up the stairs and lost bowel control. He just looked so pitiful, poor guy.  Today I had to take him in and he died in my arms.  It’s been a tear filled day here in the Hayes house. He was definitely a good boy! Portland and Seattle next weekend! | Boudoir Photographer

Can you believe it is already the end of June?! Where is time going? School is out for the kiddies and summer is here! Somehow I thought life would get easier without a school schedule but WRONG-O. HAHA If I hear “Mama, he’s looking at me!” one more time, well I may just have to add some new cities to my schedule. HA! Kidding, of course.

Anyhoo, in one week I am headed to Portland, Oregon! Wee! I do still have one spot left for Saturday, June 25 @ 1 pm if anyone is interested. Shoot me an email. If it’s any incentive to be there that weekend, I am pretty sure it’s the weekend of the organic beer festival. ;)

Then I am going to try something new and instead of renting a car to drive to Seattle, I am taking the lovely Amtrak. Well it better be lovely. I haven’t been on once since I was a kid so I thought “What the heck!?” I also have one opening left for Seattle as well for 10 am on Monday, June 27.  The hotel location is downtown (I never list them publicly in case of creepers, you just never know. I would die if some weird freak stalked one of my clients so no, I keep that under wraps until sessions are DONE!) Anyways, contact me for more info if you are interested in booking one of those sessions at desireehayesphotography@gmail.com

For the So Cali locals. I am doing some sessions at a downtown San Diego hotel location on July 30. I have availability for 1 more session. Because it’s local, hair and makeup is also available (at the hotel by my makeup artist.) Shoot me an email.

A couple more albums went out today.  This is Glitter Barbie from the Eclectic Looks Collection:
