Can you believe it’s almost NOVEMBER?!

Is it just me or has this year gone by crazy fast? I now have an EIGHT year old and next month my youngest will be FIVE! It seems like they were tiny not that long ago.  Soon it will be 2011! I decided to do an update post with upcoming boudoir dates for November through March.  I’ll be hitting up Scottsdale, AZ, Dallas, TX, Atlanta, GA, Philadelphia, PA and St, Louis, MO over the next few months. The session can be boudoir, couples boudoir, or boudoir style maternity. If you are local to Southern California and interested in a session I do have a few openings Nov 20 weekend, otherwise I am booked up until end of January.

Scottsdale, AZ - November 13 (1 spot left @ 1 pm)

Dallas, TX -December 3 and 4 (SOLD OUT)

Atlanta, GA - Jan 14 (2 spots left) and Jan 15 (1 spot left on @ 2:30 pm)

Philadelphia, PA - Feb 18 and 19 (SOLD OUT)

St. Louis, MO -  March 11 (sold out) and March 12 (1 spot left @ 10 am)

Don’t laugh at my nerdy map.  I hate posting without an image, it makes me crazy. HAHA April - December 2011 will be posted soon as well…..so far there is Portland, OR (June) and Denver, CO (July) but I’m 98% sure there will be a Washington DC (May-ish) and south Florida (I just need to book flights and hotels before I list it! I’ll keep you posted.)

stepping out of the boudoir box for a day!

Most of you probably already know the fabulous Kristin of Kristin Rachelle Photography, she is an AMAZING newborn, kid, and family photographer in San Diego (and an awesome friend, I love her!)  This past weekend we headed down to SeaPort Village in San Diego to take some fun shots of her family.  I was extra scared because I am not a family photographer and because she is AWESOME at it BUT she’s a great friend and I know she wouldn’t judge me either way. LOL! I shoot LOTS of photographers and it always adds a little extra pressure but most of them are half naked when I shoot them and I can joke about vodka. Ha! Add some kids in and you can’t do that, you have to switch from the vodka jokes to joking about farts.  I still maintain that I do not do THAT (husband, if you out me I will kill you!) so it’s definitely a different spot to be in.  I had a ton of fun with Kristin and her family, thanks for dressing up so cute and playing “guinea pig” for me, guys! Smoooooch!!!  If anyone is in search of a newborn, family, or kiddo photographer definitely give Kristin a call, she is awesome!

I’m no fashionista……

…..but I thought I would put together some fun things I have collected in my links folder for some boudoir suggestions.  I tend to love vintage looking items but pretty much anything can be used in boudoir!  An off the shoulder sweater, a hand me down vintage coat from your grandmother, a tank top with lace back, a slip, a crop jacket, tons of things can be used for boudoir and you might already have them in your closet!

I like black and grey, I wear these colors 99% of the time. No, I am not sad or depressed,  I just like it. I hate to “match” stuff and I’d rather just throw on one of my many black items and hope one piece hasn’t faded to green black. LOL So here are my suggestions for others who like black. I recommend pairing one of my “Silverscreen,” “Haute Obsidian,” “Cristal,” or “Black Magic” boudoir albums with these choices.  Pairs well without being too “matchy matchy.” <– Yes, I speak “Des Speak.”

I also get a lot of brides-to-be who want their albums to be “bridal” looking for their grooms gift on the day of their wedding. I recommend one of my “Whitesnake,” “White Downs,” or “Platinum Blonde” albums.

*Sizing tip of the day: size UP! I know it’s not fun to buy a bigger number but rip the tag off and pretend.  Trust me on this, it’s better to size up then it is to have bulges pushing out under your arm pits or back.  I also recommend HIGH heels versus “kitten” heels.  It helps elongate your legs and pushes up your butt. Avoid ankle straps if you have shorter legs or thicker ankles and look for a “step in” heel instead.

Soon it will be time to pack my sweaters, get on that big metal bird, and head to some new cities!  I have never been to a few of these places so this will be extra fun.

one more week + random fun stuff

Okay, first off, I have ONE spot left for this coming weekend Oct 10th @ 3:30 in West Hollywood at a super rad hotel.  Hair and makeup artist will be available in suite.  Come get done up, get some rad pics, then go hit up Sunset blvd since you’ll be there anyways (and feeling and looking hot!) So after you book the session above, HAHA, you all have to go check out Eitak Designs blog! She did a boudoir shoot a few months ago (and was sooooo fun! You rock, Katie!) and look how she displayed her images (THE FOLLOWING IMAGE IS FROM HER BLOG.)

Isn’t that the awesome-est!? She is sooo creative. I would have never thought of that! If you are in Southern Cali, check out her website.  She does murals, faux finishes, invitations, graphic design, lots and lots of creative awesomeness!

Hmm, what else? Oh I know, I was going to ask what your favorite book recommendations were? I am going to be doing a lot of flying soon (boudoir marathons, wooo!) and could use a few book recommendations!  Oh and on the flying front, Dallas is fully booked, thank you DALLAS! I do have a few openings for Scottsdale, AZ (November 13)  San Francisco, CA (November 20) and Atlanta, GA (Jan 14-15) <– yes, pimping again, that’s my job, I have to! Haha!
